Kennedy Owusu-Ansah

Developed and trained in early years under the distinguished supervision of former pro and international player Jeff Hackett, currently Director of Global Satellite Soccer Academy (Canada) (GSSA). Was exposed to and trained as an offensive wing back; currently specializing as an offensive right midfield player, excelling with speed of movement, speed of thought, explosive attacking flair with a complement of precise crosses, accurate diagonal balls and the ability to cut in and shoot with pace and accuracy with either foot. Gifted athletically. High intensity, high concentration. Excellent timing, anticipation and reading of the game. Excellent game attitude including dominating an opponent, competing for the ball, recovering from setbacks, executing defensive responsibility and the ability to communicate effectively with teammates and coaches. Excellent game awareness including seeing the pass, working for the benefit of the team with and without the ball, positional sense with and without possession and excellent decision making in 1V1, 2V1 and 2V2 situations. Skilled with both right and left feet. The consummate team player.

Strong leadership skills on and off the field. Take-charge mentality. Good game voice.


Ontario Provincial team – 2003 to 2005:

Represented the province of Ontario in the Canadian National games during the above-mentioned period under the direct supervision of current Assistant Canadian Under-17 World Cup coach Patrick Tobo.

Blackburn Rovers on trial (England) – 2005:

After attending the Global Satellite Soccer Academy (Canada) camp in Ontario, Canada, Kennedy was taken on trial to Blackburn Rovers by the late Mick O’Brien (The late Director and co-founder of GSSA, along with Jeff Hackett). Mick was a professional scout for Blackburn Rovers and had previously worked for Everton F.C. under Ray Hall. The trial was very successful but due to the fact that Kennedy had no family with England citizenship, he was advised to go to Germany to meet the European criteria.

Hertha Berlin BSC II (Germany) – 2006 to 2009:

Played with Hertha Berlin for three (3) years, primarily in the U-20 and Reserve teams. Was always deemed very talented by coaching staff and was worthy of being in the first team but always held back without explanation, making only 4 appearances for first team.

AB Copenhagen (Denmark) – 2009:

Literally jumped at the opportunity to play in the Danish 1st Division as set up by then agent, only to discover after 4 friendly matches, playing full 90 minutes in each (2 games vs. Brondby and 2 matches vs. FC Fyn) that visa regulations prohibited participation in official league games. Finally landed a student visa but was transferred at agent’s request to FC YPA Ylivieska of Finland due to interest from YPA’s coach.

FC YPA (Finland) – 2009 – 2010:

Played 19 matches with FC YPA Ylivieskascoring 14 goals in all competitions as an outside right midfielder and striker.

ROPS Rovaniemi (Finland) 2010 – Present:

With such outstanding performances at FC YPA, Kennedy was scouted and signed by ROPS on August 28, 2010 for the season’s run in. ROPS went on to win the Title with Kennedy in the line up and ROPS currently plays in the Veikkausliiga (Premier Division). Kennedy has refused to sign a long term contract due to his ambition to play in England.
