Tribute to Mick O’Brien

Global Satellite Soccer Academy founded in 2003, was the brainchild of the late Mick O’Brien. Mick was a professional scout for both Everton Football Club and Blackburn Rovers Football Club of the English Premier League. At the time of his passing in March 2010, Mick was a top scout for Blackburn Rovers. Mick would join forces with for former Pro and former International, Jeff Hackett to establish this worthwhile venture. It was Mick O’Brien who took the young Junior Hoilett of Brampton, Ontario to Blackburn Rovers where the lad is now carving out a successful career for himself.  Other local players who Mick took to Blackburn and other English Clubs are Chris Sheriffe who was transferred from Blackburn to Birmingham before returning to Canada, Kennedy Owusu-Ansah, currently at RoPS Roviemi in Finland, Magnus Leung who opted for a scholarship at St. Bonaventure University, Shane Lammey, an under-20 Canadian International who also had a stint in Brazil and Jake Inglis, currently at CT Inverness of Scotland. Mick has left to mourn his beloved wife Sandy and beautiful children, son Sean and daughter Hayley. May Mick’s soul rest in peace.
